Due to the title of this book (referencing a specific "swerve" in history), I was expecting more detail about a specific event, the hunt/discovery of Lucretius' poem. I guess there wasn't that much known detail about this discovery by the book hunters. So the author often goes off on historical tangents. It is not bad reading, but it does indeed feel like the reader is swerving all over the place. There was some good general analysis of how the poem impacted modern thinking, but even there, I felt like there could be more details. I guess it was just a case of not being the book I wanted to read.
