really liked it
bookshelves: chapter-books, grown-up-books

I liked this story about a history professor who wants to follow in the footsteps of an ancient Afghani philosopher. He decides to walk across most of the most remote parts of Afghanistan. He would prefer to go alone, but it turns out the Afghanis don't think that's a great idea (it's dangerous-lots of armed gunmen, it's cold- it's January for goodness sake!). Anyway, it was an interesting story and I felt like I learned some things about the Afghani culture and what it must be like to live there now.
