Okay so I'm by no means a romance junkie or a lover of Elizabethan historical novels, but I was pleasantly surprised by The Other Countess by Eve Edwards.

While there were a few plot holes and the ending was pretty predictable, I absolutely must commend Ms. Edwards for writing a book that really reflects that era. The author clearly did a TON of research for this book. Her language is spot on, complete with tiny details that really helped you visualize the time period. Eve has a wonderful way of showing, not telling, something I think a lot of YA writers need to be better at.

The dialogue was superb, and I must say, for a YA book there were some pretty racy moments, but again - all within the context of the era, so nothing was over the top or too racy that it took me out of the story.

Overall, I think that if you've been wanting to get more into historical romance this is definitely a good one!
