So many missed opportunities. It breaks my heart to think of all of the missed opportunities. The one good thing is the rich universe of characters and history that is all over the pages as much as it was all over the screen when the film premiered.

Still there is more backstory as to why there was a blockade of Naboo, the taxation of trade routes, what a senator does in the Galactic republic and the like. There are also little scenes like when Anikan helps and nurses a Tusken Raider back to health. Did the author know what was going to happen with Anikan and Tusken Raiders in the next book? Probably not, but it adds dimension where it was somewhat lacking.

The book was a trip down memory lane as I prepare for Celebrations VI.

Jada Hope If you have the time and patience, read Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter. Interesting look at the character and, for me at least, called into question whether or not he was truly a Sith Lord/Apprentice or merely an Emperor's Hand.
