I would give this one more along the lines of 3.5. Anne's life is still as beautiful as ever but I find that I miss the whimsy of the earlier books in the series; I also quite miss reading about the beautiful Green Gables, hearing Davey's hilarious stories, the companionship with Anne and Diana and Rachel Lynde's sarcasm. I quite like the new characters but just don't feel quite like we're bosom buddies ... Anne's pregnancies were so sudden and just dropped in out of nowhere which was sad because I would have like to share in her excitement more (although I have to remind myself that these are children's books and from the 1920s at that.) Gilbert doesn't get nearly enough attention or dialogue which also makes me sad because I love Gilbert and feel like he's had less and less to do as the series has progress and his role in Anne's life has actually gotten much more important. A solid read and much more enjoyable than the previous epistolary book in the series but still an admitted disappointment from the first three books.
