it was ok

I liked her short story collection and My Year of Rest.. very much. Much more than this one, which I found tedious and repetitive. Apparently written to spec to attract a big publisher and win awards. Mission accomplished but I’m hard pressed to see what the gimmick is and why the hoopla? Dirt, dark and misery repackaged for a new generation of angsty readers?
