This historical novel moved right along. A lot of time is spent on Fred Larue, one of the more obscure figures.

The bits with Rose Mary Woods were good, too. The theory here is that she erased the 18 1/2 minutes because she was personally offended by the remarks.

Jimmy Breslin in "How the Good Guys Finally Won" compared Woods' demonstration of how she accidentally erased the tape — contorting in her chair — to a ball player sliding into third base.

Odd how reading this makes me nostalgic for a nice clean scandal. The Watergate burglary and the related shenanigans wouldn't get anybody a misdemeanor today, much less bring down a president.
