remember marilyn french's "the women's room"? this one's a hundred times better. remember mary mcarthy's "the group"? this one's about two-thirds as good.

David Does this mean that "The Group" is 150 times better than "The Women's Room"?

Jan well, i didn't study my flash cards today, but that sounds about right. "the women's room" may have captured a certain late '70s feminist fury (which infected me when i was about 17,when i read it) but i seem to remember it included some pretty dreadful writing, too...

Anna I read this like a year ago and put it down 2/3rds the way through. Or maybe I read it. I can't remember, and that says something. But I do remember some of her odd recollections of going to college in NYC during that time- and so it's vivid in a way, but not a really great all-encompassing book, you know?
