If there's a formula to Discworld books, then Pratchett has nailed it by this, the fifth in the long-running Disc-universe series. The book opens with a situation exceptionally similar to that of Equal Rites but quickly and enjoyably derails as we pick up with Rincewind the Wizzard [sic] once again, still doing his level best to avoid adventure, excitement, and personal harm. Luckily for us, he spends most of the book failing miserably.

Steeping in wizard lore, Disc mythology, and the usual assortment of also-ran secondary characters, this book is great fun and a worthy followup to the The Color of Magic and The Light Fantastic.
