This is a holocaust story from the viewpoint of the Satmar sect of Hasidim. The author explores the long reaching effects of loss as two orphans try their best to follow the laws of their religion.

It is a sad story presenting many questions about the origin and maintenance of faith, the power and control of the Rabbis, and the importance of lineage and family.
