Jason , etc. Two stars? Why do you have to be such a lying liar of lies? Are you afraid of applying the one-star stamp of disapproval?

Ashley Because, like a lot of books I read for school, it has intellectual merit, even if I didn't enjoy it. The extra star is for that.

Ashley Also (she wrote 15 hours later), I have a hard time judging any work of writing as completely worthless, which to me is what one star signifies.

Jason , etc. You make a good point. Even the latest crap Dan Brown pooped out elicited 2 stars from me despite it being clearly little more than an effort in his collecting a paycheck. In other cases, it's been clear that the book's editor is the person deserving of a kick to the head and not so much the writer. So, while I'm sure there are books out there worthy of a single star, I guess I tend to be fairly lenient for many of the same reasons as you.
