The continuation of my adoration for Terry Goodkind heroes.

Goodkind populates this story with a variety of characters and conflicts that make the story timeless. It doesn't matter that it was set well before his debut series, because when humans are involved the conflicts are always the same; free will versus determinism. The mind versus mindlessness. Life versus death. Only the best stories can handle this theme in its entirety, and The First Confessor does a first class job on the theme.

This passionately romantic story is not an escape from reality, but a reaffirmation of all the life-serving values to strive for every day. Romanticizing is a seasoning that adds taste to life, not a drug that numbs the mind.

Bravo to Mr. Goodkind and his team/group for taking a bold chance with the publishing of this book.
