Looking to start over, Kate Appleton returns to the small town of Keene's Harbor, Michigan, to turn her family summer home (The Nutshell) into a B&B. Only she's facing a foreclosure deadline from the new mortgage owner of the property and a deadline from her folks that if she can't maintain the home (and its mortgage) by a certain date, they'll be selling the property to the new mortgage holder. And now she's unemployed and desperate. With nothing to lose, she demands a job from the owner (Matt Culhane) of a local microbrewery/restaurant. Her spunk and attractiveness get her the job.

There's a hitch, though. Matt's business has been the victim of multiple jobs of sabotage. Matt agrees to give Kate a $20,000 bonus if she figures out who's behind the mischief.

As Kate and Matt try to figure out exactly what their relationship status is, the sabotage gets more serious. Kate is also trying to figure out how to rehab The Nutshell with very little money and just who she is in her newly single state.

A good mystery and fun characters equal a recommendation for a good summer read.
