Stunningly lovely prose, an intimate perspective and nuanced characterization make this a debut worth picking up.

Set in the Cariboo-Chilcotin region of British Columbia (Canada) on a remote ranch, a young wife and mother struggles with her isolated, restrictive existence, retreating from drudgery and a loveless marriage into daydreams. A horrifying discovery prompts her to flee with her young daughter into the literal and figurative wilderness.

Absolutely blown away by this story. It digs deep and leans into complexity, blending historical fiction, romance, and literary elements into a flowing, captivating, and ultimately deeply satisfying whole. Highly recommended, and would love to see more from this author!
