The Apprentice is well written and enjoyable to read. The only problem I had with it was that it wasn't a mystery. I didn't have to figure out who was doing the murders. That's one of the reasons why I read crime/mystery novels. Besides that one flaw, in was a good book. The crime science was well written and understandable. It also offers a nice look into the dark parts of murders that some books/authors don't write about. I found the character Detective Jane Rizzoli real and likable. In a lot of crime books I find the detectives flat and boring, as if the author couldn't be bothered with them, but Tess Gerritsen did a good job with making Detective Jane Rizzoli seem real and with the other characters as well. If you're looking for a good read then this is the book for you, but if you're looking for a mystery to solve, try another because this one doesn't have any mystery to it whatsoever.
