A good vacation read, but I'll admit I skimmed through some of the medical entry parts; just too boring.

Gabriella is a medically trained woman in Italy during the middle ages in search of her missing father who is also a doctor of medicine. She's determined, when the letters stop coming from him, to follow the path of where he's visited to collect clues to find him. With her mother against the adventure, but with the support of her former nanny and the nanny's husband, she travels all over Europe, hoping to locate him.

The adventure is quite remarkable for a young woman to undertake and the cast of characters she meets along the way was enough to keep me going and finish reading the book.
