it was amazing

Brin's outdone himself with this one: it's massive in scope... I think he's pretty much covered everything. By that, I mean absolutely everything: the book is amazingly ambitious; equally amazing is the fact that he manages to pull it off. The thing is brimming over with ideas, some of which are bound to coincide with ideas the reader has had, others of which will be completely new: it seems like familiar yet completely alien territory at the same time. Brin plays with language throughout, modifying words to fit imagined future concepts; whereas lesser writers might open themselves to ridicule for doing so, he manages to make it convincing. A thoroughly entertaining and seriously thought-provoking book.
