sigh.I've only read for a few minutes and it's another Meth story. I can tell you the story before I even start reading further. You can probably tell me the story right now - but I continue to read and it surprises me with a twist. It is what the title says it is - Skateboarder Junkie Inmate Pastor. The majority of the book is about 80s skateboard culture with a drug/Meth overlay, then prison, then pastor.

Hosoi explains that over the years there was a battle between fans of Tony Hawk and Christian Hosoi over technique vs style and I never knew that. What I did see first hand was Hosoi beat Hawk in a contest in Houston and the judges awarded Hawk the win. I didn't know it was a thing that people were split on who was better and who should win at each contest. I just thought it was that contest and my own opinion. I didn't know it was an ongoing thing. Now you can see things online for yourself. Back then you had to be there or only see pictures in magazines. Never live skating.

Here is a video on youtube of the exact thing happening at another contest. It's close, but I think Hosoi should have won. Some people in the comments mention it and think the same.
