Joan is someone that many can relate to. She is taking care of her grandmother, wedged between two sisters, uncertain of where she stands with her mother, and feels that her relationship with God has stalled. That is until a handsome and single doctor moves into the vacant house next door and does all that he can to get Joan out of her rut. Her sister's don't understand why Joan becomes the way she does because they don't truly understand her relationship with the Lord. We have all either been there or know of someone who has felt that way.

Smith writes a beatifully woven tale of understanding and a story that everyone can relate to. She leaves the reader with a message that is clear and understood, but not always so easily followed. I can truly say that with relatable characters, a wonderful story line, and a read that was hard to put down - I am looking forward to the next one.
