This novel tells the story of a group of friends coming of age in the 1960s. The book alternates chapters from their lives today with their lives as they were growing up. The retrospective part of the story follows a core group of characters from junior high to the end of college. Their evolution closely follows the changes in culture, and we see how they become radicalized by the politics and the times. The book is quite well-written and really evokes the atmosphere and times of the 50s and 60s. A real treat for Baby Boomers with all its cultural allusions and discussion of the politics of the time. A good story and lots of fun to read.
