This book is the butterfly effect taken literally. Climate change is real. I believe it. And I believe it will take a lot of effort to halt, let alone reverse the damage done already. Though I found the book at times a little preachy, the beauty of Kingsolver's writing once again captivated me. And who else would start a cautionary tale off with a bored young housewife, headed up a mountain for an adulterous tryst? The story and the characters kept me intrigued almost to the end, when the symbols of the story overwhelmed the tale.

I will never look at a monarch butterfly the same way, ever again.
