really liked it

The second of the series. Again, struck me as rather light weight. I find myself wishing for a stronger female lead here - the sexism and sexist expectations are a little bit jarring. I know it is a result of the time period, but I suppose i just find myself hoping for something a little bit better. On the other hand, again i find myself remembering how much the female protagonist resonated with me when i was Vicky's age despite my vague disappointment in her today, and there is value in that.
Something that struck me that i didn't notice when i was a kid is what an ode this book is to the country. The reverent description of our nation really came through this time around - what a beautiful and astounding place to live! (And what a treat to hear L'Engle write about them.)
