it was ok

** spoiler alert ** Okay, I get it. Bond of love holds together father and son despite all obstacles in a godforsaken, hopeless world. I think I'm supposed to find that touching, but instead I just found it horribly insane. Maybe it's just my personal bias getting in the way, because I think a world without plants and animals isn't a world worth living in. I thought the most compelling and rational character was the mother/wife. I think she was more compassionate for wanting to save her son from the horrible reality than her husband, who was willing to subject his son to it for the sake of his love.

I get it, I just didn't like it. This book was recommended very highly to me and I was really disappointed.
