liked it

I enjoyed this book, a high society tragic tale set in Cleveland. It certainly had some flaws but it lived up to the "a more literary beach read" description I saw (and which prompted me to pick up the book in the first place). I confess I have not read any Wharton so I am unable to make any comparisons. The story was engaging, albeit sad. However, one could tell immediately that Eleanor Hart was on a bad trajectory in her life from the start. The question for me was how many other people's lives was she going to destroy on her way down. I would recommend this book, especially as a summer beach or airplane read.
