Joseph Andrews, an Army Reserve officer, ends up crossing from modern day Illinois to a fantasy world of mages and dragons.

Joe disobeys the Mage to rescue Phillip, a boy from the enemy's camp he sees fall during the fight. Little does he realize she is actually a girl and the amulet she wears makes her deathly afraid of Joe. The Mage casts a spell on Phillip to overcome the enchantment of the amulet. The Mage tells Joe he has to take care of Phillip, so they can get to know one another because he has a plan for both of them. After three weeks, the Mage sends them on a quest to obtain six dragon scales.

The cover is great. I loved the dragon, it had me cracking up. A nice little love story. It was an easy read and got my interest from the beginning. If this wasn't free, I probably would have passed on it. I had never heard of Carmen before, but I will definitely be looking out for her books now
