I read it for the Paris and the love, not for the lunch or the recipes (the latter of which I mainly skimmed over). This book wasn't about tourist Paris or even much about Paris at all - the author seemed not to go much farther afield than her own area, the 10th arrondissement around Canal St Martin. It centred much more around the differences between the mentality and lifestyles of the French and of Americans, and how food became the author's entree (ha!) into French life. Well-written and absorbing - even the food descriptions sucked me in, and I usually find them tedious.
