it was ok
bookshelves: teen-fiction
Read from June 15 to 26, 2012

Popular girl gets "frozen out" by her friends. Thus ensues a whole book about revenge and retaliation, much of it including violence. Hated the message so I didn't like the book. If I had a teenager who was reading this book, I'd want to discuss it with him or her afterwards. The three appalling ideas this book seemed to be conveying were:

1 - Revenge is good - especially if it's violent.
2 - If you are being bullied at school, you shouldn't tell a parent or teacher.
3 - Girls are awful to each other and can never be friends.

Not very uplifting. OK, so every book doesn't have to teach a positive lesson but are girl friendships really ever this bad or is it just TV and books that make us think so?
