Scher is not high-born. She runs a theater/tavern. I love her intelligence and her loyalty. The passion between her and Brandon is real to the reader. I feel for Kit. It was more realistic that Kit's family never "came around" to accepting Scher. The ending was a little quick with all threads for the couple tied in a happy little knot. Jade Lee writes her English set historical romances with depth of feeling and senuous heat. I find her China set historical romances lacking this. I with that was not true.
