The third in this series with the character, Melanie and Jack. Melanie, a real estate agent, never married is almost 40 years of age. Jack is 5 years her junior and the son of her mother's best friend. Melanie can see ghosts and in the previous two books, Jack has slowly come to accept this. Jack is an author writing historical stories relating to the area he lives in, but he has struggled to find a publisher for his last book. There is always some humor in these books as Melanie consistently tries to ward off Jack's admiration. In the last book, Jack's daughter has suddenly appeared. An old girlfriend of his committed suicide and her 13 year old daughter arrives to live with him. Jack never knew his former girlfriend was pregnant so her appearance is a complete surprise. He has trouble living with her so he asks Melanie if she can stay with her. Melanie has to move in with her mother because her heritage home once again needs major renovations. Jack's mother gives Nola a dollhouse she has in her antique store. Melanie and her mother try to discourage Nola from keeping the dollhouse in her bedroom because they perceive something evil but she persists. Figures move while she sleeps but she believes Melanie or her dog are the cause. Melanie keeps seeing Nola's mother(Bonnie) close to Nola trying to communicate but Melanie cannot figure out what she is trying to say. They work toward figuring out the mystery behind the dollhouse figures. The end, leaves you hanging eager to read the next book in the series.
