Do You Like Scary Movies?

I’m a huge lover of 80s horror cinema, the cheesier the better. Psycho Killers in Love is a love letter to the slasher genre of that period. You watch enough of those movies, Friday the 13th, Halloween, and the many, many other examples, you might start to wonder how exactly the masked, often disfigured, implacable and bloodthirsty antagonists keep shrugging off being shot and stabbed and hit by cars again and again. How they keep coming back for a final twist of the knife in the last minute of the film (and the sequel) when they were most definitely, unquestionably dead only a few minutes before. Why someone who was just meant to be a murderous but otherwise normal dude has now developed explicitly supernatural powers. Well, Psycho Killers in Love has all the answers.

The story is just plain fun. Plenty of murderous mayhem and trademark Phipps’ humour and snark. Lots of references to classic slasher flicks, which in this universe were inspired by real events, and even a little romance as the title would suggest. Well worth checking out along with other entries in the United States of Monsters setting.
