Reading this book brought out a general feeling of unease - as though something unpleasant is just below the surface. This feeling stems from the protagonist, Frances. Alys, Always is more of a character rather than plot-driven novel. While we observe Frances journey from relative "nobody" to successful and well-connected, we aren't shown her true feelings and motivations. She is, overall quite unlikeable. An interesting read, but one that left me unsettled with the ending.

Thanks to Goodreads and the publisher, I recieved this for free as a review copy.
