Scoop is my third Waugh in a row - parts are hilarious, and much of what it says about journalism, the media, war and post-colonialism in Africa is still applicable today. Like his other novels, there's a female character who is somewhat manipulative, however you can really understand why she would be that way in her situation. The cryptic telegrams are particularly funny. The pace fizzles a little towards the end.
