I'll own up. I got sucked in by the best book cover ever! Unfortunately this lends credence to the saying about not judging books by their covers.

It seems like the author was satisfied with the characters' motivations, and subsequent reactions, but forgot that she hadn't shared the relevant background information with the reader. Why would a dominant loan our our submissive heroine, Eleanor? Huge spoiler: (view spoiler) Eleanor's dom is the puppet-master pulling the strings behind the events in this story and we glimpse him for only a few paragraphs and gain precious little insight into his mind.

The whole time I spent with this story, I felt that I was watching events without sufficient context to understand their meaning. The story felt unfinished. Which is a shame because the prose isn't bad, and there definitely are some flickering moments when it becomes clear the Ms. Reisz can do decent characterisation.
