I didn't like any of the characters in this story, least of all the heroine. Though BDSM isn't a fav theme of mine in erotic romance, I didn't find it unsettling in the books I'd read in the past. In Patton's Way, though, the brother's side business of prostituting themselves did not sit well with me at all.

I compare my reaction to, say, Joey Hill's Ice Queen and its sequel, Mirror of My Soul, where both protaganists were Master & Mistress, training subs. I never felt icky over what they did at all and similarly with other BDSM-themed stories. Somehow, what the brothers in PW were doing came across sleazy and though they preferred to call it "training", I can't help but feel as the heroine did and call it prostitution.

My realizing how differently I felt about the 3 brothers compared to other heroes who were doing similar things, pulled me out of the story so I couldn't enjoy it much.
