Diary of a wimpy kid: the ugly truth by Jeff Kinney
This is the fifth instalment of the diary of the wimpy kid series and it yet again revolves around the life of Greg. This time Greg is entering puberty and this brings with it many curious changes and events. Many things are happening in this story, perhaps too many. For example; Greg’s uncle’s fifth wedding, a new maid, new dentist and a co-ed sleepover in school. There are funny moments throughout the book such as Rowley showing off his giant zit as if it were a trophy, hilarious! I have read other books in the series and personally I found this one to have too many new events in Greg’s life that were without any substance or direction. Whereas previous stories had less going on but there was more wit. Still to kids in the 8-10 age bracket they will love this book as it is a humorous perception of adolescence.
