Nancy acts more like 25 than 18. Her eyes “dance” and characters “snort” dialogue. There’s action on every page, but many of the plot twists aren’t plausible. Nancy is a brave girl, and the criminals, who don’t mean to be bad, are putty in her hands. Nancy spends about 160 pages trying to find the big clue that will solve the case, which the reader knows the whole time: it’s the title of the book. I don’t know what “drew” me to these books as a girl. Maybe it was the scary titles and illustrations on the cover. Come to think of it, I spent more time playing Nancy Drew than reading her.
