really liked it

Really enjoyed this, my only complaint would be it was to short and deserved to be a bigger novel. The story is excellent and also the characters - there is the goody two shoes scribe Arki who concentrates on not killing anyone, the mysterious Captain Braylar with a sinister possessed flail who is the outstanding character of the book and his company of men who's interaction is often humorous, typical of soldiers who work closely together for long periods of time.
The story is tense and violent at times as the Syldoon company set upon a plan to de-stabilize the empire, detail is well written but sometimes to much to the extent that only after the book is finished do you realise that the story has not progressed as far as it could have, leaving you wanting more.
The violence and battle scenes are certainly well described and Braylars weapon and the effect it has on him are intriguing and unique.
All in all look forward to the second novel
