An intriguing post-apocalyptic world and initial set-up aren't served well by the author's tendency to let being a fan of science fiction steer the narrative, especially some of the dialogue that was only put in because it was a reference. There's a lot to like but there's also an awful lot crammed in (only thing missing was spaceships but maybe in book two).

The grittiness of London's Metrozone is described well at the start but the tone isn't carried throughout the book as the story goes over the top and characters act, well, out of character. It's a video game cartoon novel. Fun, for the most part. 2.5 stars.
