it was ok
bookshelves: science-fiction

** spoiler alert ** I downloaded this to my kindle at a promo price. As a first novel, I would say this is a competent effort. The structure and pacing was good, however the characters are, by and large, two dimensional, not to mention unlikely.

The story is more about unlikely romance than science fiction. The sexuality of the main characters seems like it intended to shock ther reader into thinking this is clever rather than serve any real purpose. I found myself wanting to give up at the 45% mark because there was no real character or narrative that I wanted to follow to the conclusion. I did skim through the rest of the novel and basically it is more of the same.

Basically, I cannot recommend this book. There are better first time novels out there to discover, both in ebook and print.
