Reading this series again and man oh man did I miss a lot when I was younger. His girlfriend’s name in this book is Cokey… and there is a lot of implications about male interior decorators and who they date. Luckily Jim, the news reporter who is the star of this series, has a very open outlook and is protective of the personal lives of people that he associates with. It’s really nice. There are some jarring terms at one point someone is referred to as ‘an oriental’ and the word ‘retard’ is used but in the sense that the conversation was slowed down it is not derogatory. I really do like this series and am looking forward to going through these books again and catching what I missed the first three times I read them 
