Read my review of Pyxis -

The thing is, I read Pyxis almost a year ago. The magic of the first time just wasn't there anymore when I tried to re-read it, and although I thought I was still eager for the sequel, I really did not have that feeling of anxious anticipation for Book 2 as I did right after I first read Pyxis.

To add fuel to fire, I had expected much entertaining cuteness similar to the previous book in this series, Pyxis. I really enjoyed how Pyxis kept the action and mystery light and airy, and didn't take itself way too seriously. Alight was quite the opposite. I was looking forward to these charming characters spending their days fighting evil, yes, but mostly doing slightly unethical activities that resulted in hilarity, having misunderstandings and then resolving conflicts. I can get loads of action in any book. Rarely do I find a read whose absurd occurrences make me smile (and chuckle. And laugh). Basically, Alight just doesn't have the magnetic appeal that Pyxis had.

I have to admit though, Neal's narration and writing style has improved vastly since Pyxis. The experience has really done wonders for this lady. I couldn't believe it was the same person writing Alight.
Last time, there was the cool plot and subpar writing style. This time, I see a so-so plot and fantastic writing. What will it be for Book 3? Both? None? I guess I'll just have to wait another year to find out!

Yup!! When I read about the protag making the cupcakes that made all the guys attracted to her, I just knew I was going to adore it!
