it was amazing

This is a great book that discusses big emotions in a child-friendly way. Lucy loves Lou her toy giraffe and is devastated when she loses him overboard on a cruise. Her father tells her that Lou will never be forgotten while he lives in Lucy's heart. Lucy learns that over time feelings of loss come and go but her love for Lou will never end while she has her memories of him.
This is a book that would make a suitable present for any child suffering a loss in their life.
This is a rhyming book but the rhyme works well and doesn't get in the way of the message.
I liked the fact that the illustrations bring in children with disability and show children and adults that are from different ethnic backgrounds.
The illustrations really bring the story to life and demonstrate the kindness of friends beautifully, alongside Lucy's sadness.
