liked it
bookshelves: science-fiction

I began to take issue with this series about halfway through this book. I lauded The Hunger Games as an example of a strong heroine, but the next two books were about Big Important Men (and the occasional woman) making all the decisions while Katniss was told to sit in a corner and do as she's told. Each book had exciting parts and boring parts and the boring ones were always when she wandered around feeling helpless and not in control of her own life.

After I finished the book I had to sit and think about whether or not I liked it. I eventually realized that I did, but it wasn't the story I thought I was going to be told.
