I suppose the TV show helped, but still I am surprised by how much I remember of these stories, often word for word. I appreciate more now that Ramona was that then-unusual character: normal, from an average working family. I realise I still have concepts of American schools that I'm not sure were ever accurate, and that they come from here. More joyous stories; will have to dig out the others.
