I chose to read this book because it filled in the novel written by a male slot on the bingo board.
I also decided to read this book after reading the first one in the series which we had to read as a class for english last year.

My favourite quote from this book is: "roast lamb!" i said, and braked suddenly. I like this quote because the emphasis of the exclamation mark portrays the desirable luxury of having nice food in such a depressing time for the cast out teens. Because Ellie and her friends are fighting a war, delicious mouth watering lamb just reminds them of the luxuries they used to have...

My favourite character in this novel AND series is Homer. I think that his motivation to take charge and stay positive is good for the desperate times ahead. Just like in the book when two of the teens from the group are lost behind enemy lines, homer takes charge and starts an intense rescue mission to keep everyone alive...

An important message from this book and also from the series is that you should never take your family, friends or luxuries for granted because they might not be available to you whilst in survival mode.

I would reccomend this to ages 12+. I would give this novel 3.5 stars.
