really liked it
bookshelves: science-fiction

This is the prequel to Wool 1-5, so to properly enjoy it you need to read that first. This book describes how the world of wool came to be - how and why "silos" were built under the strictest of secrecy and the world as we know it came to an end. The characters are different from the other books, but that was to be expected. As in the other books, the main characters are all being duped and manipulated. Medicated to forgetfulness to be pliable and not have regrets. Troy though, working his first long shift in silo 1, wants to remember. Piece by piece what was before comes back to him. Very enjoyable and highly believeable - great character development and plot, even better world building.
