The Anatomy of Story is a book that changed the way I approach writing a novel. This is a sophisticated book, one that requires a lot of thinking, analyzing and synthesizing. It's like taking a course in novel-writing but once you've taken the time to think about your story premise and designing principle, then your hero's weakness and need, which, by the way, is not easy, you've gone beneath the surface of your story. It is the process of figuring out Truby's 22 steps and how they relate to your particular story that you get to see your story in a different light. I highly recommend this book to anyone who sets out to write a novel.
