really liked it
bookshelves: to-re-read, thought-provoking

A stranger arrives at a remote village with a gruesome proposition - pitting the multi-levels of desire found in each villager against themselves and their community, in attempt to answer: Are human beings good or evil?

I wholehearted agree with Beth F.: "This is one of those books where “this book was about ___,” is not nearly as important as “this book made me think about ___.”

After hearing the last words performed by Linda Emond in this audiobook version, there is simply so much more to think about...

This is definitely one I will be picking up again - perhaps in book form to allow for pausing at different passages.

Because of the disturbing nature of some of the scenes, I'm not sure I could call this entertaining, but certainly the writing is rich and the discussions this could bring up make it a great read.
