David Teachout The book is fantasy, but written by a man with a degree in philosophy. Within the pages of the first trilogy and the current two of the second trilogy lies a world that will do nothing less than expand your mind into the limitless ranges of human thought. The author declares that to truly understand the series the reader must read it twice. I think that's only the beginning.

In this second book of the second trilogy, the sheer magnitude of the Apocalypse is thrust upon us with the unstinting brutality of a raging horde. That the scope of the project is never lessened, but only made greater, by the extent of the thought touching upon politics, philosophy, life and the soul of humanity is a testament to the brilliance of Bakker.

This is a book for the reader and the student of life, not for whimsy.
