it was amazing

I just finished this trilogy last night. It absolutely blew my mind away. Originally, I had no interest in reading it since all the media outlets was making it out to be all about sex, BDSM, and "mommy porn". I had a friend who was reading it at the time and she said I must read it and that the sex scenes would make anyone blush. I am not much into exotic novels but to entertain her and get her to stop nagging me, I decided to buy the books and read it. I have to admit, it was a slow start but quickly it got better. Yes, she was right, the sex scenes were extensive and in great detail. However, you quickly realize that at the heart of it all was this all-consuming love story between two very different people. Soon I could not put it down and quickly finished the series.

I felt that the sex was very important part of the story (not in a porn way). It shows you why Christian does what he does and how he got there. There are so many layers to him (and Ana) that is explored throughout the novel. The love story about them is so intense, raw, honest, and takes your breath away. To anyone who is hesitate, I say read the book! It's more romantic than anything else, the sex goes into the background eventually and it's not the centre of the show - it's their love for one another, the dark past, and how they guide each other into the future.
